Music at Miller Driscoll
Students begin their music education journey at Miller-Driscoll. Grades PreK3 - 2nd engage in a general music curriculum that is tailored to spark their imagination and awaken their inner musicianship. Students will learn to use their singing voices, be introduced to pitched and unpitched instruments, and explore critical musical concepts through expressive movement. All music activities are guided by the National Core Arts Standards.
Song repertoire is diverse and includes folk songs and dances from various cultures. In addition, student connection is prioritized through the use of contemporary pop music. Regardless of style, students eventually acquire the skills to be successful playing selected songs on ukulele by the end of 2nd grade. Their experience in the music program at Miller-Driscoll gradually lays the foundation for music literacy.
