Our annual Fall Mums Fundraiser is here!

A welcome letter from Music Boosters President, Robin Allen

Welcome to new and returning families to the 2024-25 school year! The Music Boosters team is very excited about what promises to be a wonderful music year. Whether our children sing or play instruments (or both!), we all share a common belief that music education and performance enhances the overall educational experience, fosters teamwork, and creates long lasting friendships and relationships.

We are thankful to have an outstanding team of Musical Directors leading us: Malcolm Karlan and Angelica Jara (orchestra), Troy Williams and MJ Alexander (band), and Will Mandelbaum (choir). They are all incredibly energetic, dedicated, and patient teachers – and they know how to bring out the best in our children.

Wilton High School Music Boosters is proud to support music education in our school. Boosters volunteers support a number of musical events and programs throughout the school year. Please consider getting involved in a way that best works for you – we ask families to make a small voluntary donation to help fund our many efforts, and we have many volunteer opportunities throughout the school year and would love to have your help!

Boosters Fundraising highlights from 2023-24 include:

  • $11,800 in Thanksgiving Pie Sales to help students pay for their Workshop trip to Boston

  • $6,900 in Program Ad Sales at the spring scholarship concerts

  • $5,300 at the Bottle & Can Drive for Marching Band support

  • $1,100 in donations collected at our Music Department concerts

  • $2,300 in Wish Tree contributions at the Winter Concert

  • $4,300 through our annual Membership Drive

  • $6,100 in individual charitable donations (including Corporate Matching programs)

As a result of our fundraising efforts, Music Boosters was able to provide financial support for many initiatives last year, including:

  • Lighting for the Marching Band Practice Field

  • Adjudicator for Jazz Band Symposium

  • Chorus Workshops with visiting artists

  • Decorations and Costumes for Orchestra Spooktacular

  • Student Financial Aid for Music Trip to Boston

  • Senior Scholarships and Awards

  • Purchase of $2,300 in Wish Tree items including strings, reeds… and a new piccolo!

This year, we plan to hold our very successful Thanksgiving Pie fundraiser again, and proceeds will allow students to offset costs of the Spring Adjudication trip. We will also be continuing the Marching Band Bottle & Can Drive, and please be on the lookout for our second annual Mum Fundraiser this month!

Financial Aid

The Music Boosters exists to support the music department in multiple ways, and we’re also here to support our music students and families. We never want any student to be in a position where they are missing out on something for financial reasons. To this end we facilitate the annual Thanksgiving Pie Fundraiser (see below). Students who sell pies get up to 50% off the amount they sell back - and this money goes towards payment for the annual music trip. Additionally, if a family is struggling to pay for an event having already taken advantage of fundraising opportunities, they can reach out to us in confidence to discuss full or partial scholarships. Information is only shared with our president and treasurer, no other board members. If you need this support, please do reach out. We all have times in our lives when we need the help of others and again, we want all our students to be able to fully participate in everything the music program offers.

Mums Fall Fundraiser

WHS band members collect redeemable bottles and cans in the Board of Ed parking lot on the dates posted.

We can accept the following: beer, soda, water, sports drinks, energy drinks, hard seltzer, hard cider, tea and coffee, kombucha, plant water (e.g coconut water) and carbonated spirit-based beverage containers.
