WHS A Cappella Audition Information
The audition will consist of two parts:
A prepared section from “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing”, arr. Ben Bram.
This does not need to be memorized.
A short excerpt that you will learn during the audition.
There is no solo audition required.
Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing Sheet Music - hard copies can be found in Mr. M’s room near the binders.
Full audio - practice with this after using the learning tracks.
After you are comfortable with your part, practice with the full audio. You will be asked to sing this part on your own with the current group.
If you do not know which voice part to pick, try singing along to each until you find one that’s a comfortable fit for your voice. You can also ask Mr. M
If you are interesting in beatboxing, please indicate on form and listen to the track. It does not need to be exactly what was performed, but should have a similar vibe!
Please let me know if you have any questions!

FAQ
Q: None of these times work for me. Can I still audition?
A: Email Mr. M!
Q: I don’t know how to read sheet music!
A: No problem! In a cappella, we are mostly focused on learning music by ear. Reading is definitely a plus but not required.
Q: I’m a freshman. Does this mean I won’t get into Unlike the Rest?
A: We have accepted 3-4 freshmen the past few years of UTR auditions.
Q: How many people students are you taking from each voice part?
A: I have no restrictions on how many I am taking from each section. There are currently 15 returning members, and I am aiming for the group to be about 20-21.
Q: I am never available Friday afternoons. Can I still audition for Unlike the Rest?
A: Speak with Mr. M!
